What to do in PV before 12pm dolphin encounter?

I am thinking of booking a 12pm dolphin encounter. Our ship docks at 9am so we will have a little time before we have to catch a cab. Any ideas on what do? Is there anything or anywhere to explore around the pier to kill some time? We will be excited and want to get off the boat ASAP and our kids wont let us sleep in. :D

You are docked a few miles from town. Right at the pier is a flea market of sorts with lots of stalls to shop through. there is a restaurant there for snacks. The Krystal Vallarta is within walking distance - maybe 10 minutes - you can use their pool but not sure if it would be worth the time to walk, get a pass (although I've been many times through the side entrance without a pass) and then be back in time for your tour. Most of the resorts by the pier are all inclusive and don't give day passes. If you decide to go down to the Krystal there is also a stretch of beach there you can walk along.

You might want to double check the timing - at least with the Carnival Splendor, the ship docks at 9am [ship time] but the actual Puerto Vallarta time is 10am.
