what to do close to the ship?

I am looking for advice/suggestions/recommendations for things to do close to the ship...we will be there in early October. We are travelling w/ our 18-month-old DD, and I do not plan on bringing a car seat for her, so I need to find something to do that is either w/i walking distance of the ship, or if anyone knows of any tours that would provide a car seat for the transportation...thanks so much!

will you have a stroller? There are places close by to walk to for shopping and dining. Not too much in the way of beaches. Taxis are available but am not aware of any that come equipped with car seats.

Yes, I will have a stroller, as well as a soft baby backpack carrier to wear her on my back, if the terrain is too hard to maneuver w/ a stroller, or she is in the mood to be "held".

 

even if i bring a car seat, i have heard that many of the taxis wouldn't have the seatbelts to secure the car seat...does anyone know if that is so, or a fallacy?

When I was there, several of the larger taxi vans did have seatbelts. If you are really worried about it, you can check with the taxi drivers on the pier and make sure you have one with seatbelts before going somewhere.

 

There are many interesting restaurants, shops, and things to do around the pier that are within walking distance.
