Ilovesunshine Posted February 25, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2005 We were in Chichen Itza last week. We opted to rent a car at the port and drive to Chichen Itza ourselves. It was SO MUCH cheaper this way. We were with Carnival Glory and the Chichen Itza excusion booked through them was $77 per person. It costed us $77 to rent the car, and then gas money. It took us about an hour and 40 minutes to get to Chichen Itza. It was really easy to drive there. You only take 2 different roads to get there. The ruins were amazing. I would definetly recommend renting a car to get there. You save a lot of money and you get to do everything on your own terms.
terryde Posted February 25, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2005 Did you book the car in advance or do it right there, and through what company? Any other advice about it? How long did you spend at the ruins? Did you drive anywhere else?
Ilovesunshine Posted February 25, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2005 We rented our car from a company called Executive. We booked the car the day before from their office in Cozumel. We spent about an hour and a half at the ruins, but it just depends on how much time you have off of the ship. We opted not to drive anywhere else, just to assure that we didn't get lost and had plenty of time to get back to the ship. I don't really have any other advice because it was a pretty easy trip. We did get lost for a minute on the way there because there was some construction that we didn't know about and we should have turned left at a stop light next to the construction and we went straight instead. We realized it after a few miles because the signs were wrong and we turned around and got headed in the right direction in no time. They will give you a map and tell you directions if you ask at the car rental office.
charyoung Posted April 7, 2005 #7 Share Posted April 7, 2005 How much did you spend on gas and the admission to the ruins?
charyoung Posted April 12, 2005 #8 Share Posted April 12, 2005 We dock at 8am. Heard that you take a shuttle down the pier. How long did it take for you to get from the ship to the car rental place? Thanks!
