Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I know these hotels are near each other. I can get both for about the same price. I preferred the intercontinental but it is sold out. If these two which would you recommend? We plan on either using the oriole mover to go to Bricknell for dinner or take an Uber to South beach. It’s a girls weekend cruise and my cousin is meeting me at the hotel for her first cruise and first time in Miami but we only have one evening!
  2. I haven’t done this BUT would be interested in your experience. Regarding your earlier question, the Dolphin/Manatee does include park entrance but I believe the sea treck is not. I think you just get your entrance then walk down to the various dive/snorkel and coordinate. I know some of the Viator excursions sell it that way. I would be curious what you think of the snorkeling and experience when you next go. We were there over Christmas but didn’t do much except the manatees. Planning on heading back in June and can’t find anywhere that isn’t AI that has a pool and good snorkeling.
  3. Thanks. We need a fully accessible cabin and will not do an inside. They only have one suite and 3 ocean views on the entire ship that are accessible and can accommodate more than 2 people which is why I was asking about this specific room. It is one of the 4 rooms!!
  4. Did you sail in this cabin? I have Aimee questions about the Pullman/sofa situation? Was there a sofa? Only a drip down Pullman? Could the sofa be converted into a bed? Trying to find FAC rooms for 3 is tough.
  5. Hello- we are cruising out of Galveston on the Allure this summer. In looking at our flight options, I think we will fly back home the day after our cruise since none of the times for direct flights are that great. Looking for things to do. We have a 16-year-old and an autistic 12-year-old who uses a wheelchair. we are thinking Moody Gardens might be fun. Can anyone provide insight? I can’t seem to find ticket prices. Not sure if the hotel there is a good option or we would be better just doing a day there and finding a hotel near Hobby that night for a Monday morning flight. not sure what traffic from Galveston to Hobby is like in a Monday morning vs Sunday evening. Thanks for any suggestions
  6. Thanks everyone. I was hoping the $35 bag would be available the first day or two. This helps!
  7. We leave for a 7 night in the Oasis in a couple of days. Can anyone tell me what day the $35 wash and fold laundry bag usually arrives? I don’t remember it being available until later in the cruise but wondering if any recent updates on when we can get one. Thanks.
  8. I hadn’t heard this. I am going with my 20-year-old out of Italy so drinking age is 18 everywhere we go. He was given the soda package only and we were told he could buy drinks onboard but it would be awesome if I could just pay the gratuities and get him that package!
  9. Thanks. This was what I was hoping! I appreciate the fast response.
  10. We are on the Gem departing July 10 but we have a 1 day deviation before and 1 day after so leaving July 8 (DC to Venice). We finally got our flights on June 16 (22 days before flying and 24 days before sailing). NCL booked us in Lufthansa DC to Frankfurt, 3 hour layover, Frankfurt to Venice and then returning Venice to Frankfurt, 1 hour layover and Frankfurt to DC. I created a Lufthansa account as soon as I got the info and logged in to book seats. Tons available. Price for a reserved seat was 35-50 per seat on the international legs and 14-20 on the Europe legs. I found out after I paid for seats that I could have logged jn 23 hours prior and gotten them free (probably why so many available but I just want to have it done so for $200 like knowing it is done). Flights include free checked bag and free carryon (international sizes and can’t exceed 18 lbs). I was actually very happy. Ok would have preferred a slightly shorter layover in Frankfurt but the advantage of the flight NCL put us on is that there are four more flights after ours from IAD to Frankfurt so that is helpful! We wouldn’t have done this cruise without the free airfare offer. Cheapest flights I found were $1260 (and most closet to $1400) and that was connections and times not nearly as good. NCL charged me $1300 for the tickets so I am very pleased.
  11. I'm sorry if this is repeatedly asked and answered. I am cruising in three weeks. I got the NCL card just for the 20,000 points and will not be regularly using it as I don't think I will cruise NCL again in the near future. I currently have 20 points shy of a full $250 OBC, Should I wait until after my cruise and then request a statement credit OR should I request the $200 OBC I can get now? Trying to maximize the value. Thanks.
  12. Maybe I’ve just been lucky but we did Harmony of the Seas in April, have Carnival to Alaska booked in July and Oasis booked over Christmas and I have not encountered any of these problems. I admit I was complaining about Royal (because until this experience I’ve always thought Royal was a pain and the only reason we did Harmony is it was a fourth reschedule if a cruise originally booked in 2018 for 2029). but the 20 minutes I spent on hold every time I called them because their website sucks. Is absolutely nothing like my NCL experience. Wee decided to do Oasis not Breakaway over Christmas.
  13. Personally, I really regret booking online and not through a PCC. I had to call them within 24 hours because of a pricing issue and waited forever and that should have been my first clue to cancel and rebook with a TA or PCC. I have spent six hours on hold over the past two days because of an airfare issue. Regardless of how simple you think the fix is, cancel and get a PCC. I have had three simple requests - fly in a day early, upgrade my room, and the initial pricing issue. Those were a total of 5 hours on hold (chat didn’t work -said I had to call and only got a call back option one time and no one ever called back so there I sat). This was prior to not receiving my air reservations and the six hours on hold. In another thread someone told me I should have gotten a PCC. Never would have thought these simple issue (fly early, upgrade room, fix price) would require a lot of support, but in today’s NCL wold they do. Cancel and get a PCC for your reservation.
  14. Except in my previous NCL cruises or the other dozen cruises I have taken (to include four this year) this has absolutely never been an issue. Which is my point. NCL customer service is unacceptable. Should not take me calling for hours to simply add a day early or upgrade a room. I called Carnival a few weeks ago and literally 10 minutes on hold, got a representative, did a price adjustment (saved $1000) and changed an excursion. Easy. Called RCCL to change a room. Easy. Nothing at all like my experience on NCL.
  15. Unfortunately I made the mistake of booking online. Like I literally do for every single cruise I’ve ever booked. So I don’t have a PCC. Biggest mistake I ever made. Didn’t realize that without a PCC I was going to spend hours and hours and hours on hold for simple things (like add a day early, upgrade my room, Again, if NCL wants everyone to use a PCC they shouldn’t offer the option of booking online. I’ve never experienced this with any other cruise line.
