knippsel Posted October 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 29, 2013 The header pretty much says it all. We're in Haifa on a Friday and thought Akko would be good to visit that day. We're on an organized tour to Jerusalem the previous day so we're thinking to do something more independent on the Friday. We plan to take the train in the morning to Akko, but the last return train is at 2PM. If we want to stay longer, other than a taxi, (are there even taxis on Friday afternoon?), a sherut was suggested. But, and please forgive my being so clueless here, how do you find one? Where do they go? Will they go to the train station/port in Haifa from Akko? How do you pay them? Any info will be greatly appreciated!
jlajr Posted November 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 10, 2013 If this is still relevant... Friday afternoons are difficult because the Jewish Sabbath begins at around 4:30 PM these days. However, a quick (Hebrew) search found the following phone number for an Akko-Haifa sherut operator: Moniyot Kavie Hagalil ("Galil Lines Taxis"): +972.4.8664422 You can also try english dot b144 dot co dot il, and search for taxis in Akko. Finally, you could try to arrange for a return taxi/sherut ride by asking the operators when you get off the ship in Haifa. You might have to deal with them not being too happy about you not wanting a ride to Akko, though... :) Enjoy your visit!
