Erica@cruisecritic Posted September 15, 2008 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2008 We've heard from Carnival that passengers on Carnival Conquest and Carnival Ecstasy can choose to disembark in New Orleans -- and make their own travel arrangements if they did not book their airfare through Carnival -- or sail with the ship back to Galveston...whenever that will be. Neither option sounds ideal to us, so we're wondering what passengers are choosing to do. If you're on Carnival Conquest or Ecstasy or are in contact with someone who is, we'd love to hear what your plans are. How are you getting home from New Orleans? And if you're staying onboard, how long are you prepared to wait? What's the atmosphere like on the ship -- are people backed up at the Internet cafe or enjoying extra days by the pool? We can't wait to hear your reports!
Tandoorii Posted September 16, 2008 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2008 Is there any place in Galveston to dock? How will one get to the airport if there is no transit...or power. Surely Carnival has some humanitarian efforts going on...for those WHO DID NOT BOOK AIR WITH THEM!! What in heavans name are they doing with the pax who did book with them? Potential Carnival cruisers would like to know how they handle their pax in desparate situations.

TDM516 Posted September 16, 2008 #4 Share Posted September 16, 2008 Well, they must have certainly got busy and gotten that new terminal somewhat ready then. Of course, not as much to do to have passengers arrive than to have them embark, but still. I'm thrilled that it looks like they are going to utilize Houston because I would hate to see that area totally lose the cruise ships, which would be insult to injury after the hurricane. Something NOLA knows all too well. I know they would like to keep the ships in that area, and I have to say that our cruise out of Texas last year was the most efficient embarkation and debarkation, and the most pleasant atmosphere onboard that we have ever experienced.
