gagirl Posted June 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2004 Just wondering how early you can board / arrive or start standing in line to get onto the Sovereign of the Seas? Any other tips on the ships would be greatly appreciated too!
kc320 Posted June 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 8, 2004 We usually arrive at the port around 11:00. For the Sov. we don't check luggage so we just park the car & go thru security and then head for the line. Usually that early there isn't much line and we get thru quickly. They generally do not actually start letting you onto the ship until 11:30, ASSUMING everything has gone well with the departing passengers. We've been lucky and never had a problem. LSM1018 Posted June 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2004 When we were there in March, they didn't open the gates to the parking/boarding area until 11:00 am. If you arrive by taxi, you will pay just to sit in line waiting to be dropped off. When we got in, there was really no wait to embark. We got onto the ship, and the doors to the cabin hallways were shut so we were unable to drop off our carried luggage. They did open the doors within 15 minutes, though. cantwait2cruise Posted June 9, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2004 We took the Radisoon shuttle and got there about noon...didn't have to wait long. I think we were on board by 12:30. lrcno Posted June 9, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 9, 2004 We waited in the long line in May and were on the ship before noon. The rooms don't open up until 1 but we were able to bring our carry on items to the room before then. The stewards were still working on getting all the rooms ready. IMHO, wait to get to the port around 12:00 unless you absolutely have to be on the ship first thing. Freddie's Mama Posted June 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 10, 2004 We got to Port Canaveral at about 11:30 AM and waited in what I thought was going to be a very long line. The line moved very fast because there were A LOT of employees at the check in desk who held up their "number" to let you know that they were ready for the next passengers. Check in was painless and we were on the ship by 12:00 and having a wonderful "Welcome Aboard" lunch. Carnival Triumph Here We Come!!! lrcno Posted June 11, 2004 #13 Share Posted June 11, 2004 I thought she was wonderful...but this was my very first cruise. Had an inside cabin so took a while to get used to the small space and smaller bathroom. Elevator service is on the slow side so I was able to work off my meals by taking the stairs. I've already started looking at a cruise on the Sovereign for next summer. pedirn Posted June 11, 2004 #14 Share Posted June 11, 2004 jimbulger, hi...we will also be on the Sovereign of the Seas on the 16th of July. This will be our 4th time on the ship. This time we are just taking a little "hump" cruise. You know the kind that keeps you going between bigger cruises. Actually grandson has been begging Grandpa to take him on a "big ship", so we decided this was the perfect way to see how he will do. He is only 5 and looking forward to his first cruise. Funny I don't remember my girls being this excited...but back in the dark ages we didn't have the internet to look up info and pictures. I think that is what really built the excitement. I also found out my Opometrist will be on the cruise...actually getting married on the ship. He is the only person I have found that is going on this sailing (and I have hunted the boards) Happy Cruising.....Chris
