Dawn Hurricane Diversion

HI all just wondering if anyone has been diverted on the dawn . Leaving 8/22/04 for florida and bahamas.

way to early to divert. These storms will be long gone by then. In fact one hitting Florida today will be in NY tomorrow.

You won't know until 24 hours before you leave IF then. When the Norweigan Sea was diverted to Canada from Bermuda last year the decison was made Sunday AM for a SUnday PM sailing.

The Dawn Bridge cam shows it in calm waters. Shouldn't still be at the Private Island?

Hmmmmmmm. I thought the Dawn was supposed to be at the GSC on Thusdays from 9 am to 6 pm or so before they leave for Nassau on Friday. Hmmmmm, did they leave early?

Since the Dawn anchors at GSC, instead of tying up at a pier, it may show uninterupted calm water as it swings on its anchor chain. If the bridge cam is pointed at the ocean, and not the island, al you will see is the ocean.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Now, I remember. The bow faced out and the island was aft.

Plans were made to divert the Dawn from its usual southern route to Newport, Rhode Island, Boston, Mass, Portland, Maine and Nova Scotia. Passengers boarding the ship that day left their homes that morning not knowing where they were going, the usual route or this backup itinerary. The good news: A late decision by NCL sent the ship on its usual route for an uneventful week, albeit one with rough seas on the journey south.

He has lost his punch but the Dawn and Charley look like they are due to arrive in NY at the same time.

At some point the ship will have to cross the path of the storm. Still looks ok on the bridge cam.

there was absolutely NO problem with charley at all. the ocean was VERY calm

Home today, really no problem at all with Charley, yesterday (Saturday) evening there were 7 1/2 to 15 foot swells as per the "Captains Log" on TV but all was well after that and smooth sailing the whole trip

We sailed on 9/14/2003. We were told the day before to pack for both ports of call, warm and cool.

When we got to the pier we found out we were going south. I have to say it was the smoothest sailing I have ever had.
