wavebye Posted February 17, 2008 #1 Share Posted February 17, 2008 I need help choosing between these two cabins on the Wonder. They are both SPH with the least obstructed view. Is one less obstructed than the other? They are on opposite sides of the ship. Does this matter? Thanks!
mom x4,grandma x4 Posted February 17, 2008 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2008 here are some room reports onthose 2 rooms maybe reading others opinions who have stayed in them may help you decide, both ships are exact same layout. mom x4,grandma x4 Disney Cruise Line - Stateroom 5020 Report Deck Plans Disney Cruise Line Stateroom Reports Review by: RebeccaLovesDisney Ship: Disney MagicStateroom: 5020Condition: 5Deck: 5Category: 10Location: Forward Sail Date: 12/11/05 Notes: Very convenient location, esp. to kids areas. There was a service door across the hall which could be heard opening and closing when CM's were working. Review by: spoon2003 Ship: Disney WonderStateroom: 5020Condition: 5Deck: 5Category: 10Location: Forward Sail Date: 11/14/03 Notes: This is a great SPR room. Location is very convenient, we hardly used the elevators. There is a service door across the hall which occasionally made banging noise. But the conveience and SPR outweights any noise issue. Review by: DVC Mary Ship: Disney MagicStateroom: 5020Condition: 5Deck: 5Category: 10Location: Mid Sail Date: 06/10/06 Notes: This was an excellent value--a Cat 8 room for a 10 price. We loved being close to the kids clubs & just above the theater, gift shop, & promenade. The hallways are wide, less confining, & w/ so few staterooms it's seems much quieter than other decks. It's nice to look out over the atrium too. There is a wall that prevents you from looking all the way to the right out of the porthole, but is otherwise one of the less obstructed SPH rooms. There is a light that stays on all night outside the porthole, so bring something to secure the curtain. It does not have the chest for storage, but is missing the wall bump, so you can store your luggage upright at the end of the bed & still get by it. Review by: Tikihula Ship: Disney WonderStateroom: 5020Condition: 5Deck: 5Category: 10Location: Forward Sail Date: 01/14/07 Notes: We were lucky enough to get a Secret Porthole Room on this voyage. This was great for checking the weather, location, scenery, etc., without having to go out on deck. We are 2 adults who had concerns about being so close to the children's activities, but that was never an issue. It was very quiet in our area, with not a lot of foot traffic. We loved the deluxe head (bathroom) with a sink and commode on one side, a sink and shower on the other, separated by a solid wall. Storage room was quite adequate, with room under the beds for our luggage and lots of drawer space. The mini-fridge was quite handy, too. The queen bed was very comfy, and the coffee table raises up and down so you can use it as a dining table. Room was very clean and our room steward did an outstanding job. We're cruising again in Dec 07 and have already reserved room 5520, another SPH room on the opposite side of the ship Disney Cruise Line - Stateroom 5520 Report Deck Plans Disney Cruise Line Stateroom Reports Review by: ShirleyR Ship: Disney MagicStateroom: 5520Condition: 5Deck: 5Category: 10Location: Forward Sail Date: 10/30/20 Notes: Secret Porthole Room - quiet, slightly-obstructed porthole but nice view nonetheless. Roomy enough for 3 adults, 1 child. Good location but had to walk on left side and across ship to get to room since Kids' Clubs blocked right side of ship. Review by: JanDave Ship: Disney MagicStateroom: 5520Condition: 5Deck: 5Category: 10Location: Forward Sail Date: 09/18/04 Notes: We enjoyed 5520 for its location, not being noisy, and there was plenty of room. Review by: LISAANN Ship: Disney WonderStateroom: 5520Condition: 5Deck: 5Category: 10Location: Forward Sail Date: 02/27/20 Notes: THE ROOM WAS GREAT-SECRET PORTHOLE ROOM-NOT MUCH OBSTRUCTION-RESERVED SAME ROOM FOR JULY 20, 2006 CRUISE. Review by: vossjemi Ship: Disney WonderStateroom: 5520Condition: 5Deck: 5Category: 10Location: Forward Sail Date: 09/18/05 Notes: We did like this SPR very much. It was nice to have a porthole that was virtually unobstructed. It was very convenient to be on the same floor as the kids clubs and just a quick walk down 1 floor to the shows. However, there is a bright light that shines outside the porthole at night. Luckily we brought some clothespins and clipped the curtains together so the light wouldn't shine through. Without a room darkening shade it still acted as a little bit of a nightlight though. But that was fine as it was the kids side and they like night lights. Also, on the last day there was a crew member working on something outside so be sure to close the curtains when changing!
wavebye Posted February 18, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted February 18, 2008 Thank you for the reviews. I figured they were about the same. My DH and I are first time DCL cruisers and are kind of scouting out the ship this fall for a 3 day before taking the rest of the clan on a cruise summer of 09. We already have 3 of the SPH rooms booked for that trip. It will be 2 adult sons, daughter n law, 2 granddaughters, grandson, a neice, maybe MIL and DH and I.
