RMS Olympic Posted April 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2015 I have booked a HAL cruise round trip out of Amsterdam in August of 2016. Will be spending a one night precruise at the Movenpik hotel in center city. As my flight will get in between 7:30 and 8:00 in the morning I will have the entire day and evening to tour if the jet lag/ sleepless night doesn't hit too hard. I will be considering an evening dinner cruise on the canals which looks interesting. My question is whether a walking tour with a gay tour business is worth it and if so any recommendations. I do not intend to hit the evening bar scene, but seeing the city during the day from a gay perspective does interest me. Any suggestions in general for a short stay in this city would be greatly appreciated. A perfect lead in to the new Koningsdam! Thanks Tom
tony11727 Posted April 14, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2015 The canal tours are great. I can't recommend the Anne Frank House enough. I know it may be a solemn way to start a vacation, but it is incredibly moving.
GlasgowGuy Posted April 14, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 14, 2015 I echo tony11727's post, the Anne Frank House is a MUST for any visitor to Amsterdam. Book ahead online as the queues can be horrendously long. Check out this link for GLBT tourist advice and help. http://www.gaytic.nl Enjoy your time in Amsterdam, it's an amazing city. s8222 Posted April 14, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2015 As far as An evening diner cruise is concerned, cConsider Jewel cruises. A small, intimate vessel with excellent food. A far beter experience than most of the big companies offering these cruises. Enjoy my city!
