Visting the Ruins/other excursions

Just in the initial planning stages of the cruise so haven't done much research yet.

Ports are Cozumel, Belize City, and Roatan.

It looks like there isn't much to do at the port besides shopping at Belize and that it is worth it to take an excursion. My mom is interested in seeing the ruins at one of the ports and the ship offers excursions to ruins in both Cozumel and Belize. Is one better/more interesting than the other?

We aren't interested in scuba diving or lying on a beach all day. Also mom gets really claustrophobic so unfortunately the cave tubing excursion is out for this trip.

Also open for other suggestion of things to do at this location. On previous cruises we have walked around the shops and go on an open air taxi tour of the island once we arrive at port.

One of the best maya sites to visit in the maya world is Lamanai, this tour is a 5 hour tour, you get to spend 2 hours at the site, viewing the temples, mask of the sun god, the carvings on the stelas and the articles displayed on the onsite musuem, climbing the temples are optional, and the views are fantastic.

Depends on where the Cozumel excursion takes you. If it's to Tulum that's on the mainland a boat ride away, that will take awhile. The ruins on Cozumel itself are not that impressive.

You have three or four choices of ruins to visit in Belize, all of them well worth it.

I visited Altun Ha last year, and it was a great excursion. Really fun.
