L A X airport question

My group will be flying home from LAX on separate airlines, one at terminal 2 other at Terminal 5. We be there about 4 hours prior to our international flights. Our question is, after we check in are we able to leave our terminals and meet up somewhere while we wait?

You are not required to go to your gate after checkin. That said, there aren't too many places to sit around landside and you can't go airside (where the retaurants are) if you don't have a BP for that terminal.

Maybe if the Encounters restaurant reopens by then, you can go there.

Seems like all the before-security restaurants have been closed. TBIT just had a major remodel and they were removed. IIRC there is a Starbucks or similar but very few chairs.

Check in then walk to In 'n Out or catch a shuttle to a hotel like the LAX Marriott and hang out at Champions.
