Hamilton_Rob Posted August 14, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2017 We are booked on NCLs Hawaiian Cruise and hope to learn from your experience. Which car rental company ( location and phone number if available ) would you recommend using while at each Port? Honolulu, Oahu Kahului, Maui Hilo, Hawaii Kona, Hawaii Nawiliwili, Kauai Any ports where getting a car, trying to do all self-guided excursions, where a car may not be needed? Thanks in advance for your help and information.

I'll check them out. How are they for location? While price is important, also looking for location (easy access to port)! Thanks.
pizzalady1 Posted August 14, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 14, 2017 (edited) Agree with Discount Hawaii Car Rental. All of the major companies are at the airport (10 minutes at the most) have shuttles running all day. When you go to the DHCR website it will tell you if there is a shuttle. Kona is a little different since it is a tender port. There is an Thrifty/Dollar location in the King Kam (Courtyard Marriott). It may cost more but is certainly closer. The airport is about 20 minutes away with a lot of traffic. There is also an Enterprise which is walkable. You can check the DHRC site to see if there is a shuttle or if you have to walk. Something to think about is Maui and Kauai which is an overnight. Will you rent for two days or one day? The parking for Kauai is $20 is at a nearby mall which does have a shuttle to the pier. The parking for Maui is a little more complicated. It is recommended that you go back to the airport and park there for $13. If you are early enough in the evening, you can catch the shuttle back to the pier then the shuttle back to the airport in the morning. If it will be latter in the evening, you will need to call a cab. Edited August 14, 2017 by pizzalady1
