campolady Posted September 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2017 (edited) OK - I know its too early but thought this may be of interest to anyone docking in Malaga between 24th November and 6th January. Malaga absolutely buzzes throughout the festive period with music, lights and a Christmas market. The Christmas market is held immediately opposite the port main entrance in the park that runs to the Plaza de la Marina, here you will find stalls selling Belen (Nativity Scene) figurines, tree decorations, shepherd costumes, tambourines, sweets, roasted Chestnuts, the famous Malaga Almonds and handmade jewellery. Malaga is known throughout Spain for its beautiful Christmas lights - often said to be one of the best displays in Europe; the lights attract thousands of locals and visitors into the city. https://uk.images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=A9mSs2NB1r9Z7bMAtQtLBQx.;_ylu=X3oDMTByZmVxM3N0BGNvbG8DaXIyBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzYw--?p=malaga+christmas+lights+2016&fr=yfp-t Christmas music is an integral part of the cities festivities and a host of free Christmas concerts are held around the historical centre. Not to be missed is the spectacular twice nightly 'son et lumiere' show on Calle Larios. https://uk.video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?fr=yfp-t&p=malaga+christmas+lights+2016+youtube#id=4&vid=fecbb50ff6f30e1fca7fd5bba290b4ed&action=click Lights will be switched on/market start Friday 24th November Edited September 18, 2017 by campolady
EnricM Posted September 18, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2017 (edited) A video is always much more compelling than a picture to really show the beauty of Malaga during Christmas, so here it comes another one: ... now you can wow seeing how malagueños get better and better every year at this. I hope this is also able to show a bit what Christmas in Malaga means... especially to those of you living in "a freezer" during that time of the year --no offence to you Canucks, New Yorkers or Geordies, among many other unlucky ones not enjoying the beach, the sun and 22ºC/72F in November ... but take that, see and weep, LOL! (Yeah, yeah, I can hear you Floridians and Californians in the back, you too, you too!) PS: By the way Campolady, you opened the "season" for promoting Christmas, huh? well, see Barcelona's promotion coming soon enough to this board, ha! Warm hughs.
