Charlotte Amalie

Hi everyone!

My husband and I will be in St. Thomas for our anniversary trip and were thinking about doing some shopping in Charlotte Amalie. We do not want to do this if it is all touristy jewelry stores that they have in every port. Could someone who has been here before let us know what the shopping is like? We prefer smaller boutiques, local galleries, and open-air markets.

Thanks for your help!

Palm Passage in town has Gallery St Thomas with local art, Just Imagine with hand painted items and other locally made accessories, Fish Face with accessories made from sea life photos among other things. Very nice atmosphere.

Vendors' Plaza is open air, but very few local items and offers mostly cheap clothing and souvenirs. It's a good place to get a fresh fruit smoothie, though.

Another great store is Eden something. Eden South? It's a few doors from Eden Jewelers.
