Going on our first cruise in 4 weeks & traveling to Dubai through the night, arriving at 07.45. Wondering if to go straight on the ship or spend the day around Dubai. Bearing in mind we will be wearing many layers of clothes, so we can 'stip down to cool' & be very tired from traveling. Is there any where you can freshen up ? Ive heard you can be waiting till lunch/early afternoon for your cabin/clothes, so priesious time waisted & not seeing Dubai ??? Many thanks Angela

Understanding which cruise line would better help in providing answers, but in most cases there is a time frame in which you can access the ship, typically sometime in late morning prior to lunch. Some cruise lines will assign boarding times as well.

Most cruise lines also have a time at which staterooms can be accessed, typically early afternoon, but not prior as the rooms will still be in the process of being readied from the last passengers. Luggage can arrive anytime from early afternoon to early evening, again depending on the cruise line. It can be helpful to take a change of clothes (along with all of your valuables) in a carry on that you can access once on board for anything you might need prior to your luggage arriving.

So typically you would board late morning, have lunch on board, be able to access you stateroom sometime after that, and have your luggage delivered anytime during the day from then. But there will be dining and other venues open and public restroom facilities on board available until you can access your stateroom.
