Hotel Bateliere in Schoecher

After reading many posts, we decided to do what we do best and venture out on our own! Credit Cards and American money on hand, we left the ship and started the long walk to the city! There were many options available, ferries, vans, city busses and taxis. We spoke to one of the hostesses on the pier and asked her for a local beach, we would be willing to rent chairs etc., she told us about Hotel Bateliere!

We grabbed a cab, (he was fluent in English and Spanish), and took the 10 minute drive to the hotel for $10.00.

Here's where it gets interesting...., the hotel, sitting on a small cliff, has a lovely pool, but no beach! We asked for a day pass' and the receptionist told us to walk to the pool area to obtain it! On our way down to the pool, we see a rather smallish restaurant by the sea with tables and umbrellas! Thinking it was part of the hotel, we passed the pool and continued going down towards the beach and VOILA, the pictures will tell the story! We had one of our best days of our cruise, unfortunately I do not remember the name of the restaurant!

PS. We saw people coming in on the side of the hotel, but we left the same way we came in. Table, chairs and umbrella 15 euro with a cocktail thrown in for good measure, what's not to like! Also, not for large groups!

Yes, it was Miss Lilly! All but two waitstaff spoke English and our server spoke Spanish and so do we! She was actually from Spain, which we visit often, so we had a lively lunch conversation! Lunch was regular bar food, drinks were great! We recommend but not for large groups! Enjoy!
