From the London/UK Daily Mail travel section yesterday, they have this overall headline: "ten hottest travel spots for 2017 " with this highlight subhead: "Canada’s 150th birthday bash".

Here are some of the highlights cited: "Its rich heritage may go back much further, but Canada only became a united country in 1867. Cue huge celebrations this year as it marks its 150th birthday. If you’ve always wanted to experience the country’s diverse landscape, entry to all national parks, historic sites and marine conservation areas will be free in 2017. You will also find a year of events and some very special Canada Day celebrations on July 1. Visit canada.pch.gc.ca for more information. When to go: It’s reliably warm in July and August across the country and you can easily coincide with Canada Day."

We have done some visiting in some parts of Canada, but need to do much more, especially the western and far eastern areas. Clearly, Canada is handy to us from being in the Midwest and Ohio. Plus, Canada Day is easy to remember. That July 1 day is my wife's birthday. Tell us more!! Don't be shy!! Share your best Canada tips, secrets and suggestions.

Also, from this weekend's New York Times Travel Section will have this headline: "52 Places to Go in 2017" with Canada gaining the number one ranking on their list. The 150th birthday celebration was cited, plus these highlights: "Canada is huge — the second-largest country by area. It’s also a world unto itself, with cosmopolitan cities, barely explored natural wonders and everything in between. And this is the year to visit: In honor of the 150th anniversary of its confederation, when the original colonies came together as one country, Canada is rolling out the welcome mat. In the capital, Ottawa, a full year of celebration is planned; more events will be on offer in Montreal, which turns 375. And did we mention the exchange rate? A weak Canadian dollar means American travelers get more for their money. So 2017 offers an ideal time to go north."

From our Jan. 25-Feb. 20, 2015, Amazon River-Caribbean combo sailing over 26 days that started in Barbados, here is the link below to that live/blog. Lots of great visuals from this amazing Brazil river and these various Caribbean Islands (Dutch ABC's, St. Barts, Dominica, Grenada, etc.) that we experienced. Check it out at:

Here is one of the pictures from this Daily Mail story that highlighted Canada. Look good? It is from Banff's Lake Moraine.:

The photo of Lake Moraine in Banff, Alberta pretty much sums up the beauty and majesty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. I would highly recommend spending some time exploring Banff, Lake Louise, Kananaskis, Jasper, Edmonton, Calgary and then south to the Waterton Lakes district. The scenery is simply breathtaking, stunning and diverse. Okay ... I could be a wee tad partial seeing as I have lived in this neck of the woods since 1979 after growing up in Toronto. :D
