Puerto Caldera is about 7 or 8 miles from Puntarenas, so you could possibly contact one of the Puntarenas tour companies to pick you up at Caldera for a tour. To go to the main part of Costa Rica, they have to pass Caldera on the way from Puntarenas.

Sometimes ships dock in Puntarenas even though Puerto Caldera is listed as the port. It depends on conditions and sometimes they don't decide until the night before.
