Waterproof iPhone case for snorkeling?

I was going to take an underwater camera (Panasonic Lumix) on our cruise - we're planning to snorkel at least 3 or 4 times (12 day South Pacific and Fiji cruise). Now I'm thinking that I might just buy a Lifeproof Nuud and use my phone camera instead.

The main difference is photo quality and waterproof capabilities (8m vs 2m).

Does anyone have any experience with this case? Any other recommendations? Thanks :)

I have this case and it has worked well for me .... but I have not tried full submerging

In the US when you buy it, it comes with a 1 year water damage warranty . . .

I found the web site to claim/activate SO cumbersome ... I gave up.

The case is not inexpensive ..... nor is your phone .......

a 'snorkel safe' camera is a very viable option IMO

I can buy a water safe (good for snork) camera for about what LIFE' costs . . . .

Here's another thing to consider

on vacation a while back I lost my camera the last night (left it on a table and returned in 5 minutes but it was GONE.) I lost ALL my pictures from that vacation.

LESSON LEARNED AND REMEMBERED

On our recent trip to Europe - first time for dw - we took both our iPhones and a compact digital camera which took very little packing space. I bought several memory cards for the camera which are inexpensive now. Everyplace we went I took an iPhone and the camera and remembered to use both ... not two pictures every time, but I'd try to swap off every 10 pictures or so .... and swapped the memory card every other day.

It is SO easy to have a ton of pictures on one card in the camera ... and if you lose the camera or the card .... OMG. If I lost the darn thing again I was determined I'd still have pictures!

p.s. I dunno what phone you have but I used our iPhone 5 for video for the first time that trip and when I got home was AMAZED at the quality I got ....

  • 3 weeks later...

I own a Seashell I-phone waterproof photo housing ss-i

It can hold an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5

I have a 4-S with 32 gigs.

It is good for 40 m.

I have used it for over a year.

It is very basic

You have to choose between video or still photo before you go in the water.

The pictures aren't that great but, I still like it.

Costs less than $65.

Totally worth it to me.
