Question about Skagway Train

Hi, I have a question. There are 3 of us heading on NCL Pearl June 2017. Does this sound crazy? Do the Whitepass summit for 122.00 per person then rent a car for 135.00 and drive up to Carcross and stop where we want to.

The other choice is the Bennett Scenic Journey for 229.00 per person. It does save a little over 150.00 and we can do what we want.

Any ideas? Thanks

Also so we are planning on whale watching/ Medenhall Glacier in Juneau? Any recommendations?

Will we see whales from the ship and no need to do the whale watching. Thanks

These are very different options and sure many people have done the same tours. Equal with the rave reviews. IS there the interest in seeing the Chilkoot Trail? Lake Bennett?

Another option with the car rental- depending how many in the group- if one isn't as interested in riding the train, the train riders could book a one way trip and then just be picked up by the driver at Fraser.

Figure out where your priorities are, great options either way

Hi. Thanks for everyones info. We ended up renting a car and I drove up to Frasier and picked the others up from the one way train ride. We drove on past Emerald lake. Stopping at our leasure up and back. It was a great time and everyone loved the trip. Thanks again

The train car combo will somewhat repetitive. The train and cars do opposite sides of the valley so the scenery is similar. The train experience is nice though.

You will see whales from the ship but generally fleeting in most cases.

See our photos and review of the Pearl. We did the train with our kids and the drive o our second trip and plan to do a car rental again next year.
