7 mile beach is noted for its long expanse of sand with shallow water ... ideal swimming and sunning.

Not much for snorkeling however .....

At the north and south ends, the reef begins to tuck back to the shore, but for most of '7 mile' the reef is 3/4 of a mile off shore and in water 40 foot deep, then dropping to ????

So you need to make a decision .... do you want great beach OR great snorkeling. 'cuz the snorkeling south of the port is WAY better .... but you won't find beach. You'll find iron shore ... and places with chairs ... a pool ... and a bar .... but no sand.

Just mentioning . . .

great sand or great snorkel?
