Kristi1229 Posted May 7, 2006 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2006 Does anyone know the ferry schedule from St. Thomas to St. John. We are cruising on Carnival in June and want to go to St. John to go to Trunk Bay. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :)
caribbean dreams Posted May 7, 2006 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2006 The ferry leaves every 1/2 hour from 6:30am to 6:30 pm, we were there last July and the price was $6 pp, but i have been hearing from other CC that the price has gone up. One you get to St. John, there will be plenty taxi's to take you to Trunk bay.
Sheffie Posted May 7, 2006 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2006 Check this out: http://www.*****/general_usvi/interisland_ferry/#St.%20John%20Passenger%20Ferry:%20%20Red%20Hook%20to%20Cruz%20Bay The ferry leaves on the half hour early in the morning, and from thereafter it leaves on the hour. It also leaves on the hour to return to Red Hook. We paid $6 pp each way last month.
Kristi1229 Posted May 7, 2006 Author #4 Share Posted May 7, 2006 thanks so much for your help! one more question - where do the cruise ships dock? I will be on the Carnival Destiny. Will I need to take a cab to Red Hook, and if so how much does it cost?
Sheffie Posted May 8, 2006 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2006 Yes, you will have to take a cab to Red Hook. Red Hook is about a 15 minute drive from the cruise pier. The cab is $10 pp. There is a local bus, but it really doesn't have a schedule (as far as I have heard). We took the cab TO Red Hook and got the bus ($2) coming back. You can find it right next to the road in Red Hook. It looks the same as the taxis, so you have to ask the price. It drops you a couple of blocks away from the ship. Aquarian Posted May 9, 2006 #6 Share Posted May 9, 2006 The ferry price has gone up. We bought two round trip tickets for $20 on Tuesday so that's $5 pp each way.
GracieC Posted May 10, 2006 #7 Share Posted May 10, 2006 So if they have a ferry running from Charolette Ameila then why go to Red Hook?
Sheffie Posted May 10, 2006 #8 Share Posted May 10, 2006 So if they have a ferry running from Charolette Ameila then why go to Red Hook? The ferry runs more often (every hour vs. every 2 hours) and is cheaper. (I know, you do have to pay for the taxi.) It is also a shorter ferry ride. http://www.*****/general_usvi/interisland_ferry/#St.%20John%20Passenger%20Ferry:%20%20Red%20Hook%20to%20Cruz%20Bay
Aquarian Posted May 10, 2006 #9 Share Posted May 10, 2006 Plus, you get a little tour of St. Thomas in the ride to Red Hook rather than just looking at more water.
