catching the bus

I have read that the buses are $2.00 per person.I was wondering where you catch them at ? Is there a bus station that you must go to , or do they just run up and down the road. We would like to catch one and go to Marigot for a while then come back and spend time on the boardwalk.

Yes the buses are $2 and you would need to walk approx. 15-20 mins. into town and catch the bus on Back St. This street runs parallel to Front St. in Philipsburg and very easy to find. The buses (minivans) license plate will indicate *BUS* and they will have a sign in the window for Marigot. When you get off in Marigot, ask the driver exactly where you should wait for the return bus back to Philipsburg.

Thank you. It only took 163 views before someone could respond. :) From what i have read it takes about 1/2 hour to get to Sapphire.

How long is the bus ride to Marigot and how much time would you recommend allowing for the return trip process? Thanks for the info, and OP, thanks for the idea, had not considered bus to Marigot before I read this!

The bus ride to Marigot will take approx. 30 mins. and more, depending on traffic and how many ships in port. For a return by bus, I would give myself a good 2- 2 1/2 hours from Marigot to be on the safe side before the ship departure time to arrive at the pier.

We were there two weeks ago and walked out of the pier area, took a left and walked for about 20 mins (we are both 60 and not in the greatest shape) but was an easy walk. We got a bit confused on where to catch the bus but there is a casino on the corner and waited for the bus there, we did ask a few people and everyone was very helpful. The bus ride was as stated above $2. ea both there and back so total 8.00. We spent a good two hours in Marigot and really enjoyed it there. The bus driver told us where to go when we got off the bus and told us where to come back to catch the bus. A very cheap uneventful enjoyable day. We got back and walked back to the ship. There is a water taxi you can take as well to cut off the walk but we walked it.

Thanks Kamac56. Wife and i have walked to the boardwalk in St Martin before so it shouldn't be a problem. ( both will be 64 by Sept. ) Been to Marigot before on a prior trip to St Martin and thought this would be a good, ( cheap ) way of spending some time there. Plan on staying till about noon then taking bus back and spend the afternoon on the boardwalk. Can't believe that our last cruise, ( in January ) we were the only ship in port at all three of our stops and will be only ship in port this time at all four stops.
