port of southampton, shops

Hi there. There are no shops in the terminal building. At one time, when we used to have to wait in the lounge, there was a bar with tea, coffee and sandwiches but, now, or at least the last few times we have gone through there, once paperwork has been completed, we've gone straight onto the ship. Once on the ship there is bottled water in your cabin fridge.

If you are travelling independantly, there is a huge shopping mall just outside the dock gates where I'm sure bottled water can be obtained.

You cannot say it generally.

Depends on the line and time of check-in.

With P&O we were lucky as they took so many passengers at the check-in counters as they can handle to walk immediately after paperwork on board... So you waited in front of the check-in counters. But we were very early there.

But with others we had also the classical "embarkation number"-system and following the "hobby of Britons": queing up and waiting for embarkation.
