Snorkel at Catalina Island

We're not going via cruise ship, but DH and I are planning a short trip to Catalina Island.

Has anyone ever snorkeled there, and what was the experience like?

Does anyone have any experience with the Snorkeling Vendors there- and what was that like?

Good snorkeling at many places on the island. Here is an easy one from the dock. Facing the island , turn left and follow the road around the bend. You will see an all rock "beach". This a preserve where the glass bottom boat goes and it is full of many types of fish that will come right up to you.
