I am down to chossing one of these two hotels. We have never been to Sydney and plane on coming in four days prior to our cruise. We want to do the usual Sydney sights and the Blue Mountains if possible. Would greatly appreciate the pros and cons of either hote. We like to walk so this is not a problem. Thanks.

Two different styles of accommodation. The Meriton is a standard modern suite style (apartments) hotel in central Sydney and fairly close to china town whilst the 1888 is quirky, with very small rooms unless getting at least a king room, js or suite. It is located outside of the central area but still well within easy reach of all attractions.

Just be aware that there is construction/demolition works happening along Harbourside drive.

Either would be good if price is comparable for size of room. Both are of good quality and standards.

Thank you so much for responding. Are both areas safe for walking around at night and going to restaurants?

The Meriton is opposite the Capitol Theatre, a safe area. But i probably wouldnt venture up George street late at night on a fri or sat. There is a free bus service runs up George to Circular Quay (555)

The 1888 is also in a safe area.
