liketraveling Posted August 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2011 I could of sworn that I found a Trolley for Newport Thode Island and one of the line was structly for the mansions. Now I can't find it. Has anyone used a Trolley system in Newport Rhode Island. Thanks,
SailBadtheSinner Posted August 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2011 You could use the route #67 public transit bus to get to the mansions http://www.ripta.com/schedules/view.php?route=67&direction=2 I believe the trolley uses the same route. SBtS Are the cruise ship tender port right at Newport Gatway Center or which bus stop do we go to get on to Bus 67? Thank you
SailBadtheSinner Posted August 10, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 10, 2011 The tender dock is located on the water side of Perotti Park. The Newport Gateway Center is located about one block north of the tender dock. Just Google map Newport RI and increase the magnification and the park will show up eventually; it is located at the intersection of America's Cup Ave and Long Wharf. You would walk to the NGC to catch the bus. SBtS
blakethan Posted August 11, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2011 Does the bus system in Newport take you down Ocean Drive?
SailBadtheSinner Posted August 11, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 11, 2011 The public buses do not do Ocean Drive; you would have to do that as part of the cruise ship excursion or hire a taxi. SBtS
sbflcruiser Posted August 16, 2011 #8 Share Posted August 16, 2011 We enjoyed our tour with them, we walked down to the Community Center and purchased tickets once we tendered into port, we did not pre-purchase, as we were not sure of the weather (we were on the tails of hurricane Earl last Sept). Turned out to be a great day, seems like the cost was around $20.00 pp.
cruiseri Posted August 25, 2011 #9 Share Posted August 25, 2011 I think you meant to say "Newport Gateway Center" located about a block north of where the tenders come in and not the Community Center. Reason I mention this is that there a building in Newport (several blocks away) which some refer to as the Community Center, but buses don't leave from there.
