White Pass railroad fans - steam locomotive vs diesel

My previous "Summit vs Fraser Meadows" thread didn't get much notice, so maybe this is a better thread title! We'll be in Skagway on a Sunday next summer. This summer the WP&YR runs the 4-hour/52-mile-roundtrip "Fraser Meadows Sunday Steam" for $125 - which is $30 more then the 3-hour/40-mile-roundtrip to the White Pass Summit with a diesel locomotive: http://www.wpyr.com/schedule.html

So, rail fans...is taking the steam train to Fraser Meadows an opportunity we shouldn't pass up? Or should we do the 3.5 hour rail/bus combo with Chilkoot Charters as originally planned?

A rail fan has to say, take the Steam Engine. You are lucky to be in Skagway on a day it is running.

For a rail fan, the steam excursion is a Must-Do! ( http://www.explorenorth.com/articles/steamex.html ) For others, it's too much of a good thing - the rail/bus option works better.
