Galveston Luggage Dropoff?

Is it possible to drop off our luggage at the port early (say 10am), then leave the port to walk around Strand for awhile?

We are flying in a day early, but have noticed that most of the stores close by 5 or 6pm on Sunday. May not get to see everything on Sunday night and would like to look around some more prior to boarding, but do not want to be 'burdened with bags' or 'lug around luggage'...you get the idea.

Yes

You can drop off luggage early on the day of the cruise, but not the day before the cruise.
