Hi there

Has anyone used South Excursions over the last few months. Just trying to get a feel for their service. Looking back there seems to be mixed reviews.

I like their 3 day tour which basically takes you from the airport and looks after you (hopefully) for the few days we are in chile before joining the Crown Princess in January 2017.

Has anyone got any other recommendations

We used SouthExcursions on two cruises. The first one in 2011 that was a repo from Florida through the Panama Canal to Valparaiso. We used them for a private for four person of Valpo then the next day to a winery in Casablanca then two days in Santiago.

On our January 2014 Around the Horn cruise from BA to Valpo, we were on several SouthExcursions tours of ports. All had excellent guides and went very well. Prices were very reasonable. Also, we used them again at the end of the cruise for Valpo to Santiago, with another visit to a winery and more tours in both cities. Again, excellent guide and tours.

I can confidently recommend Chile Fun Tours for Santiago. Fernando Ulloa Navarro (FUN) was prompt in all communications in advance and also when we were on the ground. He picked us up at the airport, showed us around for two days in Santiago, then drove us to Valparaiso on the day of our cruise, with sightseeing along the way. He was more like a family member than a tour guide...very caring and concerned for our well being and happiness. His English is excellent and he is extremely intelligent and informed. We had a wonderful time! I'd be happy to provide more information.

Our group of ten cruisers used their company on a full day post-cruise from Valparaiso to Santiago with drop-off at the airport or hotel. Tour guide met us at port side. Started a city tour, then the nearby city for a walking tour, rode an (elevator?) and walked. Had lunch at a nice restaurant. Stopped at a winery place (wine tasting) along the way. We got dropped off at our hotel in Santiago while the rest opted the airport.

Definitely recommended!!!

We had a less than stellar experience with SouthExcursions, but it wasn't in Santiago/Valpo. We had contracted with them for a private guide (just the two of us) in Puerto Montt. Our guide's English was limited, the pamphlets, maps, etc. that he brought were in Spanish, and he didn't take us to the restaurant that I had specified and which was confirmed on our reservation. Their online reservations were excellent and efficient, but I'm guessing that they've over-extended in the farther reaching areas.

Could you give us an idea of what the cost was for this Valp-Santiago tour. There's only the 2 of us, unless we could find others to share if necessary

to split costs. Our flight leaves at 10:00 PM.

Thanks so much.

It was 95USD p/p for our group. Suggest you contact them (http://www.southexcursions.com) if there is a group. Tour starts at 0800-ish depending on how quick the group assembles together (port disembarkation is a chaos). Ends at Santiago on your way to the airport at 5pm or later depending on if there is a hotel drop-off.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully we can join in with a group. If not, the bus

sounds very adventurous….
