Do you have small kids traveling with you? My impression was that is the demographic the park is aimed at. My friends' kid, who was 5 at the time iirc, enjoyed himself.

The park may be a bit off the beaten track (requiring a rental car, in many cases not advisable for newbies to Brazil) from potential port towns/villages. We passed the park on the return of a road trip from São Paulo to Florianopolis.

Where exactly will your cruise stop?

Also, keep in mind that the Brazilian economy has tanked badly, and the number of people with money for such luxuries is likely way down, perhaps contributing to a less busy, and less fun, atmosphere.
