QM2 - Category B3 Rooms - Deck 5

I have tentatively booked two Category B3 rooms on Deck 5. I was hoping that people could offer their comments on this room selection. For example, is there a section of Deck 5 that would be considered a more ideal location?

Other info:

- We decided on Deck 5 after reading that this Deck would probably be the quietest (e.g. Deck 6 has running track above and Deck 4 has dining rooms below).

- We decided on the B Category (Premium Balcony) since it’s a Caribbean sailing.

- We wanted adjoining rooms.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to Cunard. You have chosen an amazing ship for your cruise.

The cabins on Deck 5 are a good choice for a B3 cabin. Most people perfer the midship cabins. However, make sure that you know that these cabins have the "in hull" or "sheltered" balconies. If you are not familiar with that term, use the search feature on this site and look for "sheltered balconies" on the Cunard forum. You should find photos of these balconies. The "B" cabins are built from the hull of the ship and are enclosed in steel. There is a large opening, but you cannot see out if you are seated. If you want a glass type balcony that you can enjoy from a deck chair, you will have to book a higher cabin catagory. Since you are new to Cunard, this may seem confusing to you. Let us know if you have additional questions.

Thank you for replying Beth.

Yes, we were aware of the difference between the Deluxe (clear railing) and Premium (sheltered) balconies. We decided that the Premium balcony would be sufficient for us.

Are mid-ship cabins more sought after because you don't have to walk to full length of the ship to get to certain areas? Or is there another reason?

We can't wait for the cruise!!!

Good to know that you are aware of the difference in the balcony catagories.

Mid-ship is the most stable part of the ship and therefore the least motion if seas are rough. However, the QM2 is a very stable ship and motion is not too much of a problem. The front cabins would feel the most motion if the seas are rough.
