Are car-seats required in taxi/cab/rental?

Thinking of taking a cab back and forth to beaches and activities for the day. Are the car-seats required in the cabs for little children? Is it possible to find one with the car-seat? We don't want to drag car-seats around.

Not sure about taxis. Somewhat doubtful. The bigger car rental companies will typically have car seats for rent. But you need to check with each one to be sure. I believe SM laws require seatbelt use and children to sit in back seat, though.
