Hi everyone,

I am Canadian, and not sure how it may work for others, but I found out this week, that my extended health plan will cover the cost of my rental for a mobility scooter...all I need is a medical note from my physican and rental from a recognized mobility aid provider...which I am sure care vacations etc will be...I am going to get pre approval. The only thing is , I cannot exceed the cost of rentals in a year, versus the cost of purchasing . If you purchase more is involved. So for those of you that may be renting this year...worth looking into this.

Cheers

Thanks for the information. Though some in the USA may benefit from this information, it's important to note that Medicare has specific qualifications that does not cover the cost of the rental for travel purposes. http://www.medicare.gov/publications/pubs/pdf/11046.pdf. However one might check with their tax advisor to see if the cost of rental ,provided it's medical necessary and a RX is received by your doctor, may be able to be applied towards qaulification of the federal medical tax deduction. Again I need to stress that you need to consult your tax advisor.
