Rental Car Anchorage Question

I am working on our land portion before our Radiance of the Seas Cruise Seward to Vancouver. We fly into Anchorage and are going to rent a car, go to the hotel (Embassy Suites), spend the next day in Anchorage and then take the train to Seward on Friday morning. I am trying to figure out the easiest way to return the rental car since the train check in is at 5:45 a.m.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Most vendors have an after hours box to drop the keys.

I've done that before ... I just make sure I do a thorough damage inspection when I pick up the car to ensure that every ding is noted since I won't be there for the final inspection.

Drop the car off the night prior. Have your transportation to the RR decided prior.

IF you do use a downtown rental that is closed, be aware, you are responsible for that car, until it is checked back in. It won't matter what "ding" you find when you rent. IF they find more- you aren't there to dispute anything. So, you must be willing to accept this. Otherwise, rent from the airport which is open until early morning, where you can turn your car in and get a final confirmation having done so.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. We've decided to drop the rental back off at the airport the night before our train trip to Seward. My husband can then take a taxi/shuttle back to the hotel. We'll have a taxi prearranged to take us to the train station in the morning.
