catnanny Posted October 17, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2010 My friend and I would like to take either a cruise of the Med. Sea or a transatlantic cruise that includes ports in Brazil. She uses a scooter or wheelchair all the time. Would ports on either of these kinds of cruises be accessible for her? We'd like to visit Italy and Greece. xxoocruiser Posted October 17, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Barcelona is the most accessible port because it hosted the Para-Olympic Games a about 10 years ago. However even with that said, Barcelona has it's limitations. Generally speaking accessibilty in the MED is very spotty at best.
catnanny Posted October 28, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted October 28, 2010 Thank you. We have decided not to do the Brazil cruise. However, we will start our cruise in Barcelona, but have decided to start our trip in Paris for a few days, rather than spend too much time in Barcelona. Again, thanks for your help. xxoocruiser Posted October 28, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2010 Thank you. We have decided not to do the Brazil cruise. Suggest you post the ports for the cruise you have selected. Others on this forum may be able to assist you with informaton on private tours that you might be able to book . Also suggest you do a search on the forum for each specific port as there has been information posted in the past about ports that have private accessible tours that you can book on your own in advance. Particularly since you will find the excursions booked through the cruiseline generally are not able to accomodate scooter.
lkmaryguy Posted November 1, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 1, 2010 Catnanny what ports will you be visiting? I was on a 14 day Med. cruise in October 2009 and use a wheelchair full time so I may be able to insite on certain ports and what tours and private tour operators we used.
