Hi all,

Just wondered if anybody coud help with the following questions.

Is there a specific car park you should head for.

Is it better to book the Car Park in advance.

When you get out of your car where do you head for.

How far a walk is it.

Thanks for all your help and Happy Cruising

There are four cruise terminals in Southampton & we can't help unless you quote your ship, date, length of cruise, whether you have been offered free parking, & where you're travelling from.

Definately don't just turn up without pre-booking.

At all four terminals car-parking is a well-oiled machine, arrangements vary depending on your cruise terminal & cruise line but you will be able to drive to the terminal entrance.

Then :

either, your luggage is taken, you & your passengers go into the terminal, & the car will be valet-parked

or, you drop your luggage & passengers and drive to the parking area & self-park. Generally its a less-than-five-minute walk back to the terminal - if its further there will be a frequent shuttlebus to take you back to the terminal entrance, where you meet up with your passengers.

If you have free parking as part of the cruise deal, you should have been sent details of how to book.

If you don't have free parking, then depending on the length of the cruise & whether you plan to drive down the previous day, there are cheaper parking options or free cruise parking with a one-night stay at selected hotels - most are either reasonably close to the cruise terminal or offer a free transfer as part of the deal.

Hi Lou,

Off for a mini-break to Zeebrugge, then.:)

Have fun in Bruges or Ostend or wherever you spend the day.

Ventura will sail from Ocean Cruise Terminal, It's a new terminal, may not be on your sat-nav or maps, but it's accessed through Dock Gate 4, on Platform Road.

Port parking for P&O cruises is booked through Cruise & Passenger Services

http://www.candps.com/site/services/parking.htm

at a cost of £31 for your cruise.

Since its only a couple of nights, its probably simplest to book port parking with them - it's secure on-site parking.

Or, since you've got a drive of 4 to 5 hours, if you wanted to stop over-night in a central Southampton hotel, there are a number which offer free cruise parking, including Ibis, Novotel, Jury's Inn, Mercure Dolphin, Holiday Inn, De Vere Grand Harbour. Details via this city council site - beware, other hotels on the list are outside the city & you really need a city centre hotel.

No hotels are easily walkable to Ocean Terminal, all the city centre hotels are within a £5 to £7 taxi ride, most which offer free cruise parking also offer a free taxi to your ship. Hotel carparks are not as secure as port parking, but I've never heard of any grief & if you're not driving a Ferrari or somesuch it should not be a problem.
