Scuba after a hurricane?

I've had 4 Caribbean dives so far. In two weeks I may be going to Coco Cay Bahamas 10 days after this Hurricane is projected to go right over. Assuming we go there and the land is ok, what is the likely effect on diving? I have to imagine that might vary on a lot of factors, but any thoughts or experiences might be interesting.

the area may have been beat to hell and all you'll see is broken rubble

AND the water can stay stirred up and cloudy for weeks ......

frankly ... if they get CoCo ready for people that fast so you can go ... I'd be impressed

based on the track today .... which suggests CoCo gets visited by the EYE

on the other hand you can be one of the FIRST

past storm ......

  • 2 months later...

It turned out two weeks after Matthew the visibility was clear to about 50ft I would say and then it got murky. This first photo was at 60ft and probably 60 feet away from me, I played with the contrast a bit.

Go pro photo at around 40ft. Bright sunny day.
