Carnival Liberty Rooms

When we originally booked our cruise we booked and interior room on Deck 6 mid-ship. We have always had a mid-ship room. We do not mind interior rooms because we are not in our room a lot.

Yesterday Carnival called and needed us to switch rooms because the original room we were booked was for a maximum of 3 people. I did not know that we were booked in a max. 3 room. So whoever did the booking did that. I was not aware of it.

The room that we were changed to is still mid-ship but is now right next to the elevators. The door opens to the elevator lobby. On top of that it is a wheelchair accessible room. We do not need a wheelchair accessible room and do not want to take that away from someone who may need it.

Could I have said "no" to her over the phone to the room change?

I have been on the phone with 3 other reps asking for a change, but the change would be to forward or aft as there are no other mid-ship rooms available. They are also having a hard time changing the room because of some sort of technical problems and a very full ship.

Any thoughts? Have anybody been close to the elevators? Is this something to be concerned about? Also, since we have only been in mid-ship rooms should I be concerned moving to a forward or aft room?

We are not hard people to please. Did Carnival make a mistake? Has anyone had their rooms changed after the initial booking?

Our cruise is still going to be a blast...we are not mad at Carnival...they have always been good to us :)

You might have been able to keep your original room depending on who you were talking to and how hard you fought for it, but that point is kind of moot now.

Being close to the elevators shouldn't be a problem. Deck 6 only has cabins and no public areas, so it shouldn't be a super high traffic area.

As of now you aren't taking a wheelchair accessible cabin away from someone who needs it. However, if someone does need it, they can move you again.

Did you book online or over the phone? If you just booked through Carnival over the phone, then whoever booked you messed up by not telling you that you could possibly be moved. If you received a confirmation, then their name should be on it.

Is the cruise leaving soon? If so, then you can just hope that they don't need your current cabin before the ship sails.

Hello,

I was originally on deck 8 mid ship, Carnival called and asked if I wanted to upgrade to a balcony cabin 6237 which is right by the elevator and forward. I've never had a balcony so I did the upgrade. It was nice being close to the elevator short walk to the cabin. Another plus was being so close to the front I would go to the secret deck each morning to watch the sunrise and it was

just a short walk.

My cabin was close to the lobby where they play live music each night, it was kind of loud plus I could hear other activities, I think it was bingo, then the art auction. I always travel with my ear plugs so I just put those in.

I did feel the ship moving a lot, not sure if being mid ship would have better, I bring candied ginger and eat those to curb the motion sickness.

I wouldn't be so concerned with the noise from the elevator area as since you are on the midship elevator bank, that does not get as much traffic as the lobby or aft elevators would. HOWEVER I WOULD be concerned with the noise and smoke coming up the stairs from the casino. The casino bar is one deck down and underneath your cabin. That is where all the smokers hang out so they can smoke inside. I know from my previous cruises that when heading down the stairs from deck 7 to the casino, you can start smelling the smoke at deck 6... depending on how sensitive you are to smoke, you may want to take that into consideration. IF you happen to be a smoker, this is perhaps the perfect room for you. Walk out the door and one flight of stairs down and you can enjoy a cigarette...

If you hate smoke.. I would rather a forward or aft cabin and risk the movement over being forced there to have a midship cabin

I was in the Silver Dining room and had to walk through the casino each night to get to the Silver Dining room, I don't smoke so I hated that. It seems to be a bad design plan IMO

I don't understand why you couldn't have walked another deck to the elevators and then exited out right at Silver DR. There are elevators right there. Casino is on deck 5, entrance to DR on 3.

I'm not sure it was confusing, but I asked several times and they would tell me I had to go to deck 5 walk all the way through then take the stairs down one.

If you look at the deck plans online deck 4, when your walking along you go past the photo gallery then you hit the Golden Dining room and it stops right there.

We had a mid ship deck 6 balcony on the Liberty in Nov 2014. The sound of the elevator was never a problem for us and we never smelled the cmoke from the casino in our cabin or hallway. In Nov 2016 we had our first Fwd cabin and my husband and I loved it. Since we were so far foward it was very peacefull and we noticed the motion of the ship more which we enjoyed. My son however did not like being that far foward (we were the last cabin) because the sound of the waves was loud crashing made him nervous (he was 9). If you are uncomfortable with the accessable cabin I would recomend trying a FWD cabin, this could become your new favorite.

If you're in this situation on a future cruise, don't go that route. It's so much easier just to go from your room, straight to the forward elevators, staying on the same deck as your stateroom. Take the elevators (or stairs) down to deck 3 or 4, whichever level of the dining room you're assigned to. You'll never have to use deck 5. There is indeed an entrance to the dining room on deck 4, if that is your level. Now, that is to get in the front doors of the midship dining room. They also have back doors on both decks 3 & 4, which can be accessed from the midship elevators. Either the front or the back, you should never have to pass through the casino. Some crew members don't ever get out & explore the ship (they're so busy), so they may not know the best route.

Now, if you are assigned to the aft dining room, that's where some people make mistakes. They decide to take the midship elevators down to deck 3, then find themselves blocked from reaching the aft dining room. They have to go downstairs, down the ship, & back upstairs to reach it. They should have instead gone straight to the aft elevators on the same deck as their stateroom, and taken those elevators down to deck 3. Go to the proper elevators/stairs first, then go to the deck. Some people keep wanting to do it the other way around.
