mscg2000 Posted April 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2008 We are sailing out of vancouver, arriving and leaving there by plane. We are staying an extra day on each end of the cruise. Alamo has cars right at the pier, so we can rent at the airport and leave it at the pier (and vice versa). But, they are the MOST expensive. What are the best alternatives? Putterdude Posted April 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2008 We are sailing out of vancouver, arriving and leaving there by plane. We are staying an extra day on each end of the cruise. Alamo has cars right at the pier, so we can rent at the airport and leave it at the pier (and vice versa). But, they are the MOST expensive. What are the best alternatives? Yes they are expensive as you are paying a convenience fee to the airport just as you pay one to most airports in North America and in addition there is a fee paid to the Port of Vancouver, however I understand it is only $5 per car. All of these fees add up and are annoying. It is also the summer and cruise ship season so bargins are hard to come by. You may care to consider if you really need a car for a day on each end of your cruise. You are also going to be paying about $20 to park at the hotel and parking fees at some attractions. You can come into town via the airporter for $13.50 pp or cab fare will run about $35/40. Once downtown you can walk to many of the sights in the downtown area, you can purchase and all day transit pass for $9 which will take you via transit, SkyTrain or Sea Bus to almost anywhere you care to go. Plus there are several tour companies that do a good job.
