Searched & got no clear hit - maybe not good enough search by me LOL!

We have an assigned boarding time slot @ noon but would like to wander around downtown Seattle prior to boarding without dragging them around.

Can we check our bags onto the ship prior to actual board time slot?

Yes, you can drop them with the porters outside the building and then go for a wander.

Yes.

There will be baggage handlers out in front of the terminal at the pier.

Your luggage is taken way before you enter to check in. It would be quite easy to get there early have them take your bags and then continue walking down the waterfront without going inside to check in.

Would you happen to know what the earliest we can get the bags to the porter i.e. what time they open up?

Porters are streetside by a little after 9 A.M. but the terminal does not open until about 9:30 A.M.

If you are travel to Seattle in the next few weeks, be aware that the waterfront area is going through major construction. If you just want to walk around, you should be fine. If you are driving and looking for a parking space, that is much more difficult.

Enjoy

On Sunday the 6th of August the Navy's Blue Angels will be flying. Also that weekend the Seattle Mariners will be honoring a former player: Ken Griffey, Jr.

Do not try this on The Pride of America

We dropped off with the porter and then went to return our rent car ... before we could return to check in we received a call from the porter that they would not check the bags through the scanners without an owner present TSA ???

In fact the fellow was rude about my error.

Never had a problem at any other port and on many other cruise lines.

I seem to remember on the POA in 2012 that we had to haul our own bags off the bus and into a long (very long) security line inside the terminal. Only after we'd escorted the bags through security were we able to hand the luggage off.
