Area of New Orleans Near Port?

If I am "naming my own price" on Priceline or Hotwire, what "district" or area of New Orleans is the port in?

The Warehouse District.

Many years ago it really was a warehouse district, but has evolved into an area of hotels, condos, restaurants, Harrah's Casino, etc.

The convention center runs parallel with the port, so I would try that area. We stayed at Hilton Garden Inn last August and I got a rate of $69 per night through lastminutetravel.com. When we woke up the next morning, we saw the "whale tail" of the Carnival Conquest from our window! Convenient location and also right across from the Fulton Street Parking Garage where we parked during our cruise. HTH!
