Hokiegalcruiser Posted July 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2017 I posted on the Canada board, but not sure which gets more action. Need to check out Saturday morning from airb&b but need to put luggage somewhere until night flight. Suggestions?
Rare martincath Posted July 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2017 ^Since everyone I see posting regularly in this region checks both boards, it just depends which we open first! Yes - you can store luggage at the pier (CDS baggage) - and they'll even ship it out to YVR for you. The cost is a little higher for this service, $40 for the first 4 bags then $10 per bag vs. $8 (or less for small bags) at the pier, but you don;t need to return for it or schlep it out to the airport so it's well worth the extra for the convenience IMO. Fancy hotels with bell desks will also generally store bags for non-guests for a preemptive bribe (*ahem*, tip!). Going rate at the Pan Pacific and Waterfront seems to be $5 per bag - but depending where your AirBnB is, there may be more convenient locations. Also - on the AirBnB front you should be aware that while these are in the process of being legalized (right now NONE of them are legal) the framework will mean that unless you are renting just a room within a home, or the primary residence of an individual, the rental will likely remain illegal AND there will actually now be funding for enforcement. Plus, if it's a Condo many have already passed ByLaws banning short-term rentals - literally everyone I know in downtown now has this provision in their building rules with hefty fines levied. In other words, any AirBnB rental in Vancouver has a good chance of disappearing on you at very short notice - and you have zero basis to make a claim as the rentals were not legal to begin with... be ready to make a hotel booking just in case! Hokiegalcruiser Posted July 24, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted July 24, 2017 Update for anyone who needed the info. Pan pacific held our bags for $5 each. No problem. Also, the studio air B&B we stayed in was perfect for our needs. We spent $436 cd for 3 nights. It was walkable to everywhere we wanted to go. This one had no host which was exactly what we wanted.
