San Diego Taxi to Pier

Does anybody know about how much it costs to take a taxi from the san deigo airport to the cruise ship pier? Transfers through carnival are $32 a person for roundtrip. Would a taxi be cheaper if there's 7 of us.

Any info would be appreciated.

It is 1.75 miles from the airport to the cruise terminal. The cab fare, per cab, would be about $10, depending which terminal you arrive at. You will probably need at least 2 cabs, depending on luggage.

I hope this helps.

7 people with suitcases will require at least 2 cabs unless you can find one that is using a van. The big disadvantage to using cruise line transfers is that they often wait to fill or partially fill a bus before leaving the airport for the pier - that and the price. The advantage is that they pick up your luggage at the airport and dont have to deal with it again until it is delivered to your cabin:)

You might also check out a shuttle. With 7, you would fill one without having to share. On Cloud 9 it would cost you $40 each way for 7 people with 14 pieces of luggage. For cabs, you might even need 3 cabs for 7 people and luggage for a cruise unless you pack very lightly. 3 to a cab is about the max.

There are cheaper shuttle companies too. Cloud 9 is the largest.

DH and I used Cloud9 when we flew into San Diego for our Mexican Riviera cruise last October. They were great! We shared our van which held 10 passengers and the driver. It was the most painless trip from airport to pier that I have ever made!
