Day pass at Sugar Bay or Frenchmans Reef Marriot?

Looking for advice.

I know beaches are free on St Thomas, but we would like to get a day pass at a local Resort. The choices are slim, it's either Frenchmans Reef Marriot or Sugar Bay resort.

Sugar Bay has an all inclusive price, where Frenchmans has just a fee for using their resort. The price difference is about $45.

I have read some pretty bad reviews for Sugar Bay, but we won't be using their rooms, just the pool and beach. I like the idea of not having to buy food or drink though.

Is Frenchmans Reef that much nicer? I mean, we would be willing to buy our meals if the beach and pool area was considerably nicer.

Nickel for your thoughts....thanks
