Majesty Colourful Coasts April 2015

Recommended Posts

Thinking of booking Colourful Coasts for April 2015, and would welcome any help with the following issues:-

1. Cabin - We have had an Outside Plus on Deck 9 on Dream for past 3

years which we loved. Thinking of an Outside Plus on Deck 7

on Majesty (if available). Has anyone stayed on this Deck and

if so, can you recommend any specific cabins. - take it as the

Outside Plus cabins are smaller on Majesty, there will be no

sofa or occasional table?

2. Weather - We plan to cruise from April 10th for 7 nights - have looked at

average temps in the Canaries for that time of year, but

different websites vary quite considerably (between 20c and

25c). Can we pack summer clothes?

Also, having only sailed the Med, is the Atlantic likely to be

very choppy in April?

3. Majesty v Dream - We absolutely love the Dream and have read several

conflicting reviews on Majesty. How does she

compare with the Dream?

Thanks in anticipation.

We have stayed in Outside Plus cabins on Deck 4 and Deck 6 on Majesty and you are correct they are smaller than Dream Plus cabins. The plus cabins are plenty big enough though. They do have a fridge, but no sofa or table. We have always gone for a mid ship cabin. I think Deck 7 is the promenade deck.

I have been to the Canaries on Majesty in March and April and found that the temperatures do vary so you will probably need cardigan/lightweight jacket if there is a cool wind or you are on the open top buses. On one day you may need a cardigan and on the next day sleeveless tops, shorts and lots of suntan lotion!! Best go prepared.

Choppy seas?? In March there was a huge storm near Madeira and crossing onto the Spanish Mainland with lots of flooding. Majesty stayed in Gran Canaria for 3 days to avoid it. We went again in April and many of the islands had had the affects of that storm with flooding, etc. In April most days were hot on the islands. The sea was a bit choppy between La Palma and Madeira and again on the sea day from Madeira to Agadir but we took Stugeron and were fine. You can get an injection from the ship's doctor (about £25 during normal surgery times) if you suffer sea sickness.

It is difficult to compare Dream and Majesty as it can be subjective. DH and I both found the atmosphere, service and food quality on Majesty better then Dream but I preferred the ship layout of Dream, especially the outside deck areas. The wine package on Majesty was far superior to that on Dream too.

Hope this helps. I would certainly like to get away from our winter to either the Canaries on Majesty or Caribbean on Dream. ;):D

Very many thanks Jakanne for your prompt reply, and for addressing all my issues in detail.

Your detailed info and advice is much appreciated, and gives me a more

informed picture of what to expect if we decide to go ahead with booking

this itinerary.

cabins in majesty are smaller but having been on dream as well i prefer the majesty. We were on deck 7 cabin 0730 and had a good veiw and the staff very freindly .Only thing about the Majesty the broadway lounge is a cicular stage and is not like the dream with a 2 tier sitting arrangement . Apart from that i think the majesty is better laid out hope this helps .keith

Many thanks Keith (Hall4me) for your helpful information.

Interestingly I contacted Pre-booked cabins number at the weekend, who advised me several cabins still available on Deck 7 (Promenade Deck), but all had partially obstructed view - Cabin No 730 was among them. So it's good to know that the view from this cabin is o.k.

Still debating whether to risk uncertain weather conditions - we've been

spoiled with wonderful Mediterranean weather for our last seven cruises, and as we can only afford one holiday a year, it's a major consideration for us.

Ah, decisions, decisions!!
