GVcruiser Posted October 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2010 I want to buy a handheld Garmen GPS unit to use on a Princess cruise in Jan. 2011 that goes around the horn and also scenic cruising in Antarctica. I can't find a map to load into the GPS unit. I contacted Garmen and they said they don't have a map for Antarctica. Does anyone have any advice about how to get a map for the Garmen 60csx unit. It accepts mini-SD cards. Also, any suggestions for Argentina and the Chilean fjords as well? Thanks.
cnbfrank Posted November 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 3, 2010 We have both a road and a handheld GPS (loan) but are not highly techie and have been unable to find digital maps to use with them. However, on Amazon, I found two paper charts which we both love: Patagonian and Fuegian Channels;Chilean Fjords cruise chart and Ushuaia to Antarctica;Drake Passage;Polar Voyage Log Map both pub by Zagier & Urraty. They are large, glossy paper, have lat and long along the margins, text is mixed Spanish/English, show water depth, ships names for explorers/shipwrecks/ etc., etc. My husband is a sailor and is very pleased with these. Not very expensive. Con
