My wife and I will be visiting Luanda Angola by cruise ship for a day on the 23 rd Nov 2014. Can any body recommend how to see this city or surrounds . The boat tours are very short and very expensive

I think we will be on the same cruise (Rotterdam?). The problem with these countries is that the rate of corruption is very high and that most tour companies will ask for a deposit or full payment ahead. I would never send money to a bank in Africa or to Africa through Paypal. We ourselves are not sure yet what we will do there.

Perhaps if someone else comes on here to confirm a very specific positive experience then that might be the way to go, other than that I would rather suggest that you stick with the ship's tour, as expensive as you think it might be. I concur with happyglobetrotter's thoughts too.
