Galveston - What part of town?

What part of town should we look for a hotel before the cruise. We will be 2 adult couples. We don't need beach access but would like a view. Mostly someplace walkable for restaurants, and something to do for the afternoon and evening because we won't have a car. More on the side of splurge than budget, It's the other couples first vacation without kids.

Take a look at the Sheraton Four Points. It's right on the Seawall, across the street from the Galveston Pleasure Pier, and walkable to some restaurants. We've stayed there several times. It's not the fanciest around, but is certainly comfortable enough.

I vote for the Gálvez. For your friends first vacation without kids, it's like a second honeymoon. Very historic and romantic. Great view. If you want to splurge, this is it.

I agree with everything Margee said .

For splurge definitely Galvez or The San Luis and to be able to walk around beach area.

Though Not all Galvez rooms have water views or any balconies .

All San Luis rooms have a water view and balcony , more restaurants , Kroger Grocery and better beaches because convention center is next door.

Both hotels have limo buses to move you around Island to other restaurants and Old Town and Port area and other venues!

Tremont , Harbor House and Moody Gardens are excellent hotels.
